THE CONSTITUTION OF THE KWAZULU-
The Branch is an organisation of persons who aim to promote museology and all matters
pertaining thereto in KwaZulu-
Among other things the Branch:
2.1 Subscribes to the objectives of the South African Museums Association;
2.2 conducts meetings, conferences, courses and excursions for the discussion or teaching of all aspects of museology and related matters;
2.3 publishes or subsidises a newsletter and other publications;
2.4 assists museums and museum workers in all museological and related matters.
3. HEADQUARTERS OF THE BRANCH AND AREA OF JURISDICTION
The Headquarters of the Branch shall be in Pietermaritzburg or Durban and the area
of jurisdiction shall encompass the whole of KwaZulu-
4. MEMBERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP FEES
4.1 Membership of the Branch is voluntary. Any member of SAMA residing in KwaZulu-
automatically a member of the Branch on condition that SAMA Council may
assign any member to a particular Branch at his/her request or for other
4.2 Any person remains a member until he/she resigns or is in arrears for twelve months with his/her membership fees.
4.3 The Branch will no longer accept life membership.
5. CONTROL OF THE BRANCH
5.1 The Branch Committee shall consist of:
5.1.1 A Chairperson
5.1.2 A Vice-
5.1.3 A Secretary
5.1.4 A Treasurer
5.1.5 Two to four members
5.1.6 The Branch Chairperson shall be the Branch's representative on the SAMA Council in accordance with the stipulations of Section 220.127.116.11 of the Constitution of the South African Museums Association.
5.2 Members 5.1.1. to 5.1.5 shall be elected for a period of two years from individual members of the Association in good standing in the year before the biennial election of the Council of the Association.

7. TERMINATION OF COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
7.1 Should a member of the committee decide to resign, the notice of resignation
shall be in writing to the Chairperson.
7.2 A member of the Committee may be dismissed from his post if he/she is absent from two consecutive meetings of the Committee without a satisfactory explanation or as a result of serious neglect of duty or in consequence of findings of a special Sub-
8. MEETINGS OF THE COMMITTEE
The Committee shall meet at least four times a year.
A majority of members of the Committee shall form a quorum.
10.1 The financial year of the Branch shall be from 1 Januaryto31 December. At the Annual general Meeting the Treasurer shall present an up to date set of financial statements.
10.2 The Committee shall obtain its finances from:
10.2.1 Membership fees determined in accordance with the stipulations in section
10.2.2 Contributions from any other sources which the Committee may receive.
11. DUTIES OF THE COMMITTEE
The Committee must ensure:
11.1 that complete and true records of the transactions of the Branch are maintained;
11.2 that the acquisition or disposal of any movable or immovable property or rights on behalf of the Branch shall be effected under authority of a resolution of the Branch Committee duly passed and minuted;
11.3 that all receipts of cash are banked promptly and all disbursements, excepting those from a petty cash float, be signed by the Treasurer and one of two signatories authorised by the Committee.
12. MEETING OF MEMBERS
12.1 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
An Annual General Meeting of the members of the Branch shall be held each year before the end of the year.
12.1.1 The Secretary shall give all members at least one month's notice in writing of the Annual General Meeting.
12.1.2 The Agenda for the Annual General Meeting shall accompany the notice and shall make provision for the following:

126.96.36.199 Membership fees (set and revised periodically by National Council);
188.8.131.52 Motions and points of discussion; and
184.108.40.206 Election of committee members every second year.
AMENDMENTS TO CONSTITUTION
The Constitution can only be amended at an Annual General meeting, after notice of
at least two months prior to such a Meeting and if such amendment is accepted by
14. DISSOLUTION OF THE BRANCH
14.1 The Branch shall be dissolved on a resolution adopted by at least a two thirds (2/3) majority of members voting. At least 75 percent (75%) of members in good standing shall be required to vote in pursuance of such a resolution.
14.2 If upon dissolution of the Branch there remain any assets, such assets after discharge of all liabilities shall be transferred to the South African Museums Association.
